Hello, and welcome to The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) and the Regional Electronic Academic Communication Highway Distance Learning Program. (REACH).

This semester, your instructor will be using a course management system that assists both instructors and students in the teaching and comprehension of course material using a computer and the Internet, WebCT.

Just as a mechanic needs a box full of tools to repair a car, the UTPB student using WebCT needs a “toolbox” of resources to assist in getting the most out of the WebCT program. Some of these tools are:

• A “system checkup” to ensure your computer has the proper setup;
• Current versions of the most popular internet browsers for both PC and Macintosh;
• Current versions of the most common internet plug-in tools such as Adobe Acrobat Reader®, Flash®, and Quicktime®;
• Links to popular UTPB help resources such as Financial Aid, the University Library, and the REACH Distance Learning Program.
